Each card is assigned to its user, so you must remember to scan it at validators (in buses) or gates (in the metro). For me, it was a convenience at every turn – no stress about buying individual tickets, I just hopped on and went!

How to buy the Hola Barcelona card?
You can easily purchase Hola Barcelona cards at TMB ticket offices or from machines at metro stations. However, if you’re looking to save money, I recommend buying it online, as you get a 10% discount. I personally took advantage of this option, and it really works!
After purchasing online, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a code that you need to provide when picking up your card at any metro station. Just keep in mind that the voucher is valid for 90 days, so it’s not worth buying the card too far in advance. You have up to 90 days to exchange the voucher for your actual Hola Barcelona ticket, giving you plenty of flexibility in planning your trip.

However, it’s important to note that at El Prat Airport, the exchange is not possible at the machines near the R2N train. Instead, you need to go to the machine at the L9S metro station, which is right nearby. If you plan to travel by train, first exchange the voucher at the metro station, and then return to the train platform.
On the machine, you’ll find a red button in the lower-left corner labeled Online Collection. After selecting it, enter the voucher code you received in your email. Once confirmed, your Hola Barcelona tickets will be printed. It’s a quick and convenient method, which I personally tested, and it works perfectly!
